School Council

Our school council is made up of 6 children, one representative from each year group as well as the Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary. We vote in our representatives once a term so that plenty of children have the chance to sit on the council.

Last year we wrote our own action plan to go with the school development plan. We are working on our plan for this year. We would like to develop our pagoda area into a quiet area for break and lunchtimes.

We meet once a fortnight with Mrs Halliday to discuss issues we feel are important. These may be issues that have been raised by other children in school, areas that we are interested in and would like to develop further, things we feel need to improve or events that we would like to take place. Our ideas for ‘Good to be Green’ are now being used in all of the classes.

We are also involved in organising fundraising events. These have included making cakes for our Macmillan Coffee Morning which was hosted by Year 6. We also raised a grand total of £581.72 for Comic Relief last term. The penny mile and the Great Messing Bake Off are other events we have organised.

This year we plan to organise another event with local School Councils at schools in Tiptree.
